Who this course is for
This course is for healthcare staff who enter imaging areas, assist with portable X-ray examinations, or care for patients receiving nuclear medicine or radiation-related services. It introduces practical precautions and the importance of following your facility’s instructions.
What you will learn
- Recognize radiation sources used in healthcare and distinguish exposure from radioactive contamination.
- Apply time, distance, shielding, and protective equipment to reduce unnecessary exposure.
- Work through common situations involving portable X-ray, fluoroscopy, and nuclear medicine patients.
- Understand radiation badges, posted areas, reporting concerns, and local safety contacts.
- Practice decisions about a possible spill and unfamiliar work areas.
Learning format and completion
Interactive teaching pages and practical scenarios lead into an eight-question knowledge check. Complete the required pages, practice activities, local-orientation step, and passing assessment requirements to record successful completion.
Successful completion is saved to your individual learner account. You can then download or print your completion certificate. Quiz retries are available, and printing is optional.
The course introduces everyday radiation safety. Your facility’s policies, role-specific instruction, and radiation safety contacts guide how you apply it at work.
